The Bevill State Bears came up short after giving up a five-point halftime lead in a 66-56 loss to the Lawson State Cougars, Thursday night in Birmingham.
CJ Beckham led the Bears with 19 points and five rebounds, with Cam Scott adding 12 points and seven rebounds. Jordan Bell had nine points and nine rebounds.
Bevill State led 34-29 at halftime, but suffered from turnovers, missed free throws and losing the rebounding battle in the second half, falling 66-56.
