Carterius Evans sunk a critical free-throw with 2.6 second remaining in regulation to help the Bevill State Bears earn an 86-85 victory over the Southern Union Bison on Monday night at Glen Clem Gymnasium.
Evans recorded a double-double of 19 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks to lead the Bears, with Skylar Hice connecting on five three-point shots to finish with 15 points. Jordan Bell scored 15 points with six rebounds, Jervae Peters also had 15 points and Maurice Johnson added 11 points.
Bevill State held a 48-43 scoring advantage at halftime and traded leads with Southern Union in the waning moments in regulation before Evans went to the line for his game-winning free-throw.
