The Jasper Vikings’ state softball title hopes ended on the first day of the Class 5A Tournament in Oxford after Jasper suffered a Championship First Round bracket loss to Elmore County, 15-5, and was beaten 2-1 by Scottsboro in the Elimination First Round to end the season.
The Vikings steadily climbed into the Alabama Sports Writers Accociation polls during the season, eventually becoming a mainstay at No. 5. Jasper won the Class 5A, Area 11 championship and avenged its only loss to No. 1 Springville in the North Regional Tournament by beating the Tigers in the Runner-up bracket final.
Jasper ends the season with a 22-8-3 record.

Elmore Co. 15, Jasper 5 (Six innings)
Missy Odom pitched five innings, giving up seven earned runs and a walk with four strikeouts. Lilly Banks had a strikeout in two-thirds innings in the circle. At the plate, Brinlee Clark drove-in two runs on a hit, Odom had an RBI double, Makenzie Abrams and DeCaliegh Calvin both hit a triple with a run scored.
