The Sumiton Christian Eagles, Winston County Yellow Jackets and Lynn Bears season came to a close after losses in the elimination bracket of the regional tournament on Friday.
The Eagles and Yellow Jackets faced-off to open the day at the Class 2A East Regional in Albertville, with Sumiton Christian coming out on top. The Eagles fell in the following round to Pisgah, dashing their hopes of another state tournament appearance.
The Bears started Friday’s Class 1A North Regional in Florence in the elimination bracket and scored a hard-fought victory over Cherokee, but were defeated in the next round by Athens Bible.

Class 2A
Sumiton Christian 7, Winston Co. 5
Kalista Cornelison pitched six innings in the win for Sumiton Christian, giving up a hit and no earned runs with four strikeouts. Alison Kelly pitched an inning with a strikeout.
At the plate for the Eagles, BG Braswell went 3 for 4 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Izzy Ingle was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI and Cornelison hit a double with an RBI as the at-bat leaders.
Haylee Gilliand pitched six innings for Winston County, striking out three batters.
Offensively for the Yellow Jackets, Olivia Wright went 2 for 3 with a triple and two runs scored, Emily Hill hit a double with an RBI and Madison Comeens drove-in a run as the at-bat leaders.
Pisgah 14, Sumiton Christian 7
Cornelison pitched seven innings, recording one strikeout.
At the plate, Braswell went a perfect 4 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, Maddie McCrary hit a triple with a run scored and two RBIs and Cornelison had a hit with a run scored as the at-bat leaders.
