Stellar second half lifts Bears over Cardinals


The Bevill State Bears used a complete team effort on Monday night to break a four-game losing streak and post a 78-64 victory over the Gadsden State Cardinals at Glen Clem Gymnasium.

Cornelius Grant led the Bears with 16 points, eight rebounds and five blocks, with Jervae Peters following with 15 points and three steals. Jordan Bell scored 14 points with seven rebounds and three blocks, Carterius Evans had 13 points, eight rebounds and two blocks and CJ Beckham scored 10 points with five rebounds.

As a team, Bevill State held a 50-36 rebounding advantage for the game, also posting eight steals and blocking 12 shots.

The Cardinals led 33-29 at halftime, but the Bears held a 49-31 scoring edge in the second half for the 78-64 final.
