The Bevill State Bears lost a tight contest in Game 1 against East Mississippi, 5-4, but plated three runs in the top of the seventh inning to win Game 2, 7-6, to split Sunday’s series 1-1.
Hannah Payne and Anna Lacy both pitched three and one-third innings in Game 1, both recording a strikeout.
At the plate, Brentli Champion went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Santana Clark was 2 for 4 with a run scored, MacKenzie Kirby went 2 for 4, Magen Caro hit a double with a run scored, Katie Puckett recorded a hit with a run scored and an RBI, Kaylee Robinson and Catherine Hickey both had a hit and Savannah Neely scored a run.
Clark pitched seven innings in Game 2, recording four strikeouts.
Offensively, Champion was 3 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, Clark went 3 for 5 with a run scored, Kirby was 2 for 2 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs, Robinson went 2 for 3 with a double and a run scored, Hickey was 2 for 4 with a double and two runs scored, Puckett hit a two-run homerun, and Caro and Martin both had a hit.
