Nine wrestlers weathered tough competition on Friday at the AHSAA Super Section Tournament to advance to Saturday’s Championship Semifinal round and continue to vie for top seeding for next week’s state tournament.
In Class 5-6A, the Jasper Vikings finished the day in fifth place, with Moises Sanchez, Jamie Burnam, Cole Carter and Colin Langley gaining spots in the semifinals. Ethan Caldwell, David Baradell, Antonio Nash, Cooper Brooks, Carter Reed and Preston Reed staved-off elimination and will continue in the consolation bracket on Saturday for state bids.
In Class 1A-4A, the Dora Bulldogs earned a fourth place finish for the day, advancing Jayden Rouse, Peyton Hallman, Damon Clayton, Delvin Taylor and Jonathan Foster to the semifinals. Still competing in the consolation brackets for state bids are Cayden Carpenter, Ashton Gilmore-Smith, Darius Clayton, Bryson Rouse and. Anthony Elliot.
