Brian Hale, a veteran journalist with both writing and broadcasting experience, has joined the staff at WJLX 101.5 FM.
Hale previously worked at the Daily Mountain Eagle for 11 years, first as a news reporter and later sports writer, where he won several awards from the Alabama Press Association and the Alabama AP.
“We are very excited to add Brian to our staff,” said Brett Elmore, general manager of WJLX. “Brian has been a staple in both the local news scene as well as the sports circle for over a decade and he brings a lot to the table. We have worked together during that time on several different projects, so it was a natural fit and he will make an easy transition into his new role.”
Hale has contributed to broadcasts on both WJLX and WJBE for over a decade, serving as the color commentator for the County Football Game of the Week for the past two seasons with the late Chuck Dunn. He served as the lead broadcaster for Bevill State Basketball for three years, has called prep softball and baseball games, and appeared in weekly football shows on camera.
“Joining the staff at WJLX is a great honor and privilege — Walker County has been my home for over 16 years and being able to bring excellent news and sports coverage to our listening audience will be something I will eagerly look forward to every day,” Hale said. “Brett and Johnny Elmore, along with Woody Wilson and Sebastian Black have been great friends over the years and I’m overjoyed to be able to team-up with them and help bring some very exciting new features to our audience.”
Born in Jacksonville, Fla., Hale and his wife of 15 years, Christie, live in Sipsey, and has two daughters — Lexi, 13 and Annalee, 3.
