The 2021 postseason begins for four Wal-Win programs on Friday as the quest for an AHSAA state title takes center stage.
The Oakman Wildcats (8-2) are the only team to begin the playoffs at home as they host the Colbert Heights Wildcats (5-5). Colbert Heights finished Class 3A, Region 8 play with a 3-3 record, with its three losses coming to Danville, Phil Campbell and Lauderdale County by a combined score of 105-17.
The Dora Bulldogs (6-4) travel to Brooks for the first round of the Class 4A playoffs. The Lions are a perfect 10-0 on the season and are averaging over 33 points a contest on offense.
The Meek Tigers (7-3) open the Class 1A playoffs by traveling to Courtland to take on the R.A. Hubbard Chiefs (6-4). The Chiefs only loss in Region 8 play came against Decatur Heritage, 48-16. WJLX will broadcast the game live, with a 7 p.m. kickoff.
The Sumiton Christian Eagles (7-3), also on the road, travel to Winterboro (6-4), which finished second in Region 5. The Bulldogs’ only region loss came to first-place Wadley, 43-22.
