Two area champions have been crowned to begin the prep volleyball postseason — with the Addison Bulldogs recording back-to-back victories on Wednesday to clinch the Class 2A, Area 13 crown, while the Sumiton Christian Eagles beat Appalachian on Tuesday night capture the Class 1A, Area 11 title.
Both teams will enter next week’s North Region tournament in Huntsville as top seeds in their quest for a state tournament bid.
Hosting-Addison opened Wednesday with a three-set win over Cold Springs, advancing to the championship final. The Bulldogs won the area title by besting Hatton 3-1.
Following their 3-0 win over Jefferson Christian on Tuesday afternoon, the Eagles defeated Appalachian 3-1. (25-18, 25-12, 21-25, 25-18)
The Winston County Yellow Jackets fell from postseason contention on Wednesday after losing in the opening round to Hatton.

Class 6A, Area 10 tournament at Jasper
(1) Jasper vs. Winner of Minor vs. Jackson-Olin; 6:30 p.m.
*In lieu of Jasper’s first-place finish in its three-team area during regular season play, the Vikings earn an automatic qualifying bid to the North Regional.
Class 5A, Area 12 tournament at Corner
(3) Cordova vs. (2) Hayden; 4 p.m.
The winner winner earns qualifying region tournament bid and advances to advances to play top-seed Corner at 5:30 p.m.
Class 4A, Area 8 tournament at Dora
(1) Dora vs. Winner of Indian Springs vs. Fultondale; 2 p.m.
*In lieu of Dora’s first-place finish in its three-team area during regular season play, the Bulldogs earn an automatic qualifying bid to the South Regional in Montgomery.
Class 4A, Area 11 tournament at Good Hope
(2) Curry vs. (3) Hanceville; 1:30 p.m.
The winner earns qualifying region tournament bid and advances to play top-seed Good Hope at 2:30 p.m.
Class 3A, Area 10 tournament at Carbon Hill
(1) Carbon Hill vs. (4) Tarrant; 1:30 p.m.
(2) Winfield vs. (3) Oakman; 3 p.m.
Winners earn qualifying region tournament bids and meet for the area title at 4:30 p.m.
Class 1A, Area 12 tournament at Marion County
(3) Meek vs. (1) Marion County, area championship game; 4:30 p.m.
