Top-ranked Curry was in its true form Thursday, defeating three consecutive opponents to open the AHSAA Class 4A Tournament and advance to Friday’s championship game at Oxford’s Choccolocco Park.
The Yellow Jackets will await the winner of elimination bracket final — Geneva vs. North Jackson/Dale County — at 3 p.m.

Alena Howse pitched four and two-thirds innings, giving up four hits, two unearned runs and striking out two batters. Ella Wright pitched two and one-third innings, giving up two hits with three strikeouts.
At the plate, Reese Miller was 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI, Ambrey Taylor was 2 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and three RBIs, Jenna Madison went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Linley Tubbs was 2 for 4 with a run scored as the at-bat leaders.

Howse pitched three and two-thirds shutout innings, giving up three hits with three strikeouts. Wright pitched two and one-third innings, giving up a hit.
Offensively, Marissa Lawson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, Madison was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, Alayna Key went 2 for 4 with a run scored and Tubbs hit a double with a run scored as the at-bat leaders.
