Cordova overcomes 13-point deficit to beat Dora, 20-13

The Cordova Blue Devils overcame an early 13-0 deficit with 20 unanswered points to record a 20-13 win over the Dora Bulldogs on Saturday night in Cordova.

Cody Headrick threw for 208 yards for the Blue Devils, with three touchdowns and three interceptions. Jalen Armistad grabbed two scores and Hayden Bates caught a touchdown pass.

Jamarcus Goodman had a rushing touchdown for Dora and Ronald Waldrop scored on an interception return.

Waldrop intercepted a Headrick pass on the first play of scrimmage and returned it 38 yards for the score. Later in the first quarter, Goodman ran for another touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 13-0 lead.

From there, the game belonged to the Blue Devils.

Cordova got on the scoreboard with a touchdown pass from Headrick to Bates to pull within seven, 13-6, at the half.

In the third quarter, Headrick connected with Armistad on a 60-yard touchdown pass, then took control on a two-point conversion, 14-13.

Headrick and Armistad hooked-up again later in the third quarter to seal the game, 20-13.

Cordova takes on Carbon Hill next week, while Dora faces Holt.
