The Bevill State Bears couldn’t come up with the crucial baskets in the final moments of the game in a 69-66 loss to the East Georgia Bobcats on Thursday at Shelton State in Tuscaloosa.
Carterius Evans led the Bears with 18 points and a block, with C.J. Beckham adding 16 points and nine rebounds to earn Pinnacle Bank/WJLX 101.5 Player of the Game honors. R.J. Stevens had 12 points and two blocks.
Bevill State led 38-35 at halftime and throughout most of the second half before ultimately falling, 69-66.
The Bears return to the road on Monday to face the Stillman College junior varsity.
