Bears split Saturday’s games with Bucs

The Bevill State Bears opened Saturday with a thrilling, 3-2 win over Shelton State in Game 1, but the Bucs took Game 2, 7-3, evening the contests at one each.

Santana Clark got the win in Game 1, giving up two earned runs and eight hits, while striking out three batters in five and one-third innings. Anna Lacy pitched the final one and two-thirds innings, giving a hit with two strikeouts.

At the plate, Magen Caro hit a two-run homerun, Clark had a hit with an RBI, Kaylee Robinson recorded a double with a run scored, Catherine Hickey and Kelsi Lemmond had a hit each and Savannah Neely scored a run.

Katelyn Makemson pitched three and two-thirds innings in Game 2, giving up three hits with a strikeout. Lacy pitched three and one-third inning with a strikeout.

Offensively, MacKenzie Kirby went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Clark was 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI, Hickey and Brentli Champion each had a hit with a run scored and Robinson and Katie Puckett each recorded a hit.
