The Bevill State Bears outscored the Stillman College JV Tigers 45-30 in the second half on the way to a 88-71 victory on Monday night in Tuscaloosa.
Five Bevill State players scored in double digits, led by Carterius Evans’ 18 points, two-block effort. C.J. Beckham followed with 17 points and five steals for both to be named Pinnacle Bank/WJLX 101.5 FM Co-Players of the Game.
Cornelius Grant scored 13 points with six rebounds and two blocks, Jordan Bell scored 11 points with five rebounds and Jervae Peters scored 11 points.
Former Dora Bulldogs standout Kaleb Towns scored 15 points for the Tigers.
After Stillman led throughout most of the first half, Bevill State’s defense stiffened and helped the Bears take command, 43-41.
Bevill State stayed strong in the second half, leading by as much as 26 points en route to the 88-71 win.
The Bears return home on Thursday to face Northeast Mississippi.
