Kalista Cornelison pitched seven innings in the win for the Eagles, giving up five hit and an earned run, while striking out five batters.
At the plate for Sumiton Christian, BG Braswell went 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI, Alison Kelly was 2 for 3 with two runs scored, Calli Corley went 2 for 3, Maddie McCrary hit a double with an RBI and Izzy Ingle recorded a double as the at-bat leaders.
Alexa Edgil pitched three innings for Winston County, with one strikeout. Chloe and Haylee Gilliand each shared time in the circle.
Offensively for the Yellow Jackets, Chasty Garrison went 2 for 3 with an RBI, Madison Comeens had a double with a run scored and Olivia Wright scored a run as the at-bat leaders.
Both teams advance to next week’s Region Tournament in Albertville.
Class 4A, Area 8
Dora fell to Oak Grove in the area championship game and will advance to next week’s Region Tournament in Montgomery as the runner-up.
