The Curry Yellow Jackets and the Oakman Wildcats both secured a spot in Wednesday’s AHSAA North Regional Championship games in Florence after going undefeated Tuesday, while the Carbon Hill Bulldogs will fight for a state tournament bid in the elimination bracket.
The Jasper Vikings suffered back to back losses on Tuesday in Florence, while the Dora Bulldogs also had two defeats at the Central Regional in Montgomery, with both teams’ seasons coming to a close.
North Regional in Florence
Class 4A
Region opener — Curry 13, Priceville 3
Region semifinal — Curry 3, Deshler 0
Alena Howse got the win over Priceville in Game 1, giving up five hits and two earned runs, while striking out three batters. Skiely Perry pitched an inning with a strikeout.
At the plate, Ambrey Taylor went 3 for 3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Alayna Key was 3 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs, Reese Miller went 2 for 2 with a run scored and Linley Tubbs recorded hit with two runs scored and an RBI.
Ella Wright got the shutout win against Deshler, striking out six batters.
Offensively, Kylee Trotter went 3 for 4 with a homerun and two RBIs, Key was 3 for 4 with a run scored, Taylor went 2 for 4 with a run scored and an RBI and Lanie West was 2 for 4.
Curry plays Brooks Wednesday at 10:45 a.m. for the region title.

Region semifinal — Oakman 4, Elkmont 2
Missy Odom pitched seven innings in the shutout win against East Lawrence, striking out 13 batters.
Oakman plays Lauderdale County at 1:45 p.m. for the region title on Wednesday.

Region Semifinal — Lauderdale Co. 5, Carbon Hill 1
Haleigh Lamon pitched seven innings in the win over Danville, giving up a hit and an earned run, while recording nine strikeouts.
At the plate, Raelea Guy went 3 for 5 with a run scored and two RBIs, Taygen Dozier was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Ana Guy had a hit with two runs scored and an RBI.
Lamon pitched six innings in the loss for Lauderdale Co., striking out two batters.
Kalee Edwards went 2 for 3 and Raelea Guy had a hit with an RBI.
Carbon Hill plays in the elimination bracket beginning at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
