The Sumiton Christian Eagles, Lynn Bears and Winston County Yellow Jackets all suffered losses on Thursday and will begin play in the elimination bracket at 9 a.m. on Friday.
Both Lynn and Winston County had their first loss in the winner’s bracket, but rallied to win their openers in the elimination bracket. Sumiton Christian opened winner’s bracket play with a victory, but suffered a loss at the hands of an old foe, Ider, who the Eagles bested for two of their state titles.

Kalista Cornelison pitched seven innings in the win, giving up four hits and an unearned run with four strikeouts.
At the plate, Calli Corley went 2 for 3 with a run scored and two RBIs, Jillian Jones hit a triple with an RBI and Maddie McCrary, BG Braswell and Cornelison each had a hit with a run scored as the at-bat leaders.

Ider 9, Sumiton Christian 2
Alison Kelly pitched four innings, recording five strikeouts. Cornelison pitched three innings with three strikeouts.
Offensively, Braswell went 2 for 3, Kelly had a hit with a run scored and Izzy Ingle drove-in a run on a hit as the at-bat leaders.
