TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WJLX) – The University of Alabama is urging fans to come to Bryant-Denny Stadium prepared for what is expected to be dangerous heat.
Heat index levels are forecast to range between 105-110° Saturday, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Heat Advisory through 8 p.m. Saturday.
It will feel even hotter inside the stadium when Alabama kicks off the 2026 season against East Carolina, according to UA’s Public Safety department.
In response to the extreme heat, university officials have announced that cooling stations and water will be available for fans in attendance Saturday.
Cooling stations will be available in sections 107, 124 and 134 on the first floor in the lower level, sections 104, 110, 123 and 133 on the second floor in the lower level and section 857 on the 8th floor in the upper level. Each cooling station will have first aid personnel, water refill stations, fans, shaded seating and sunscreen.
WaterMonsters, 150-gallon tanks of cold, filtered water will be available throughout the stadium Saturday for fans to refill empty, non-glass bottles or cups brought into Bryant-Denny Stadium.
University officials are asking fans to be aware of signs of heat-related illness before heading to Tuscaloosa Saturday.
- Have heavy sweating accompanied by weakness
- Become dizzy or lightheaded
- Have a worsening headache
- Get painful cramps in your arms, legs or abdomen
- Have nausea or vomiting
UA Public Safety also recommends fans hydrate before the game, drinking water days and hours before the game to prepare their bodies for the extreme heat. It’s also suggested to wear loose-fitting, light colored clothing, a hat and sunscreen.
