Katie Puckett was clutch in both of the Bevill State Bears’ victories over the Southern Union Bison on Saturday in Wadley, including the game-winning homerun in Game 2’s 8-7, seventh-inning homerun victory and in Game 1’s 8-5 win.
Santana Clark pitched 7 innings in the Game 1 win, giving up 12 hits, three earned runs and two walks, recording three strikeouts. At the plate, Addison Rose went 3 for 5 with two doubles, four RBIs and two runs scored, Katie Puckett was 2 for 3 with a run scored, Santana Clark went 2 for 4 with three runs scored, Carlie Burnham was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored and AK Tyree went 2 for 5.
Kyla Edmonson pitched three and two-thirds innings in the win, giving up five hits, four eaned runs, two walks and struck out three batters. Katelyn Makemson pitched three no-this innings with two strikeouts and Santana Clark pitched a third of an inning. Offensively, AK Tyree went 3 for 4 with a homerun, two RBIs and a run scored, Katie Puckett was 2 for 4 with two homeruns, three RBIs, and two runs scored, Carlie Burnham and Santana Clark were both 2 for 4 and Anley Laye recorded a hit with a run scored. Puckett’s shining moment came in the top of the seventh inning when her two-run homerun helped drive-in Kayla Butler and the Bears pull ahead, 8-7.
