Both the Jasper Vikings and the Dora Bulldogs continue to be involved in competitive mat action heading into the final week before Christmas Break.
On Tuesday, the Vikings wrestled in a quad match at McAdory, beating Chelsea 51-30 and Pike Road, 39-24. Against Chelsea, Kortez Samuels (113 lbs), Ethan Cummings (120 lbs), Ethan Caldwell (132 lbs), Antonio Nash (138 lbs), Luke Horsley (170 lbs) and Colin Langley (285 lbs) all won by pinfall, with Carter Reed (160 lbs) picking up a 4-0 decision win. Against Pike Road, Cooper Brooks (145 lbs), David Baradell (152 lbs), Reed and Jamie Burnam (182 lbs) all won by pinfall and Caldwell won by 11-5 decision.
On Saturday at the Otis Weatherly Memorial, Caldwell and Brooks finished in first place, Burnam, Nash and Reed finished in second place and Horsley finished in third. The Vikings finished in second place for the tournament.
On Tuesday, Dora wrestled in a quad match at Susan Moore, beating JB Pennington 60-12, Southeastern 60-12 and Susan Moore 62-16. Against JB Pennington, Cameron Richardson (195 lbs) and Grady Goodwin (220 lbs) won by pinfall. Against Southeastern, Jacoby Foster (126 lbs) and Connor Roberts (145 lbs) won by pinfall. Against Susan Moore, Jayden Rouse (120 lbs), Delvin Taylor (160 lbs), Aiden Richardson (170 lbs), Neil Foster (182 lbs) won by pinfall, Jacoby Foster won by 13-6 decision, Damon Clayton (132 lbs) won by 15-0 technical fall.
On Thursday, Dora wrestled Piedmont and Cora in a tri match, beating Piedmont 57-24 and losing to Corner, 43-33. Against Piedmont, Talin Cummings (120 lbs), Rouse, Roberts, Delvin Taylor (160 lbs), Aiden Richardson (170 lbs), Richardson and Goodwin all won by pinfall, while Ashton Gilmore-Smith (145 lbs) won by 16-10 decision.
At the Oak Grove Tournament on Saturday, Neil Foster, Rouse and Clayton finished in first place, with Cayleb Wade-Little (285 lbs), Connor Roberts, Jacoby Foster, DJ Taylor and Richardson finishing in second place.
