Massive sixth-inning rally helps Bear spilt with Parsons

The Bevill State Bears split Saturday’s games with last season’s ACCC runner-up Snead State in Sumiton, losing Game 1, 9-1, before late-game heroics fueled a 13-9 win in Game 2.

Kayla Edmondson pitched five innings in Game 1 with 4 earned runs, two strikeouts and two walks. At the plate, Santana Clark drove-in a run.

The Bears entered the sixth inning down by six runs, 7-1, then procceded to plate 12 runs, led by homeruns by Carlie Burnham, Katie Puckett and Skylar Black, to switch roles with the Parsons and take a six run lead of their own, 13-7. Snead State drove-in two runs in the seventh for the 13-9 Bears victory. Clark pitched seven innings, giving up six eanred runs with four strikeouts and a walk. Offensively, Burnham went 2 for 2 with two homeruns, two runs scored and two RBIs, Puckett was 2 for 3 with a homerun, three RBIs and a run scored, and Savannah Neely went 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.
