Six programs started their portion of the North Regional Tournament in Florence on Tuesday vying for region championships and spots in next week’s state tournament. By the end of the day, only two teams moved on to Wednesday in pursuit of further postseason play.
In Class 2A, Sumiton Christian recorded two consecutive wins – over Falkville and Winston Co., to secure a place in the region championship game against Hatton. Winston Co. beat Lexington in the first round before the loss to Sumiton Christian. The Yellow Jackets play Red Bay in the 9 a.m. game of the Runner-up bracket.
In Class 3A, Carbon Hill and Oakman suffered back-to-back losses and were eliminated from the tournament, while In Class 1A, Lynn and Meek saw their seasons come to an end following consecutive losses.
The Class 4A and 5A portions of the Tournament begin on Thursday.

Colbert Co. 7, Carbon Hill 2
Ella Hyde threw seven innings in the loss for Carbon Hill, giving up six earned runs and a walk with two strikeouts. At the plate, Kalee Edwards went 2 for 4 with an RBI, Alleigh Keeton had a hit with a run scored and Hyde drove-in a run.

Hyde pitched six innings in the loss, giving up eight hits and six earned runs with four walks. Offensively, Raelea Guy went 4 for 4 with a doulbe and an RBI, Alleigh Keeton was 2 for 4 with two doubles and a run scored, Hyde went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Alysa Lawhorn was 1 for 3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI and Mahaley Pugh drove-in a run on a hit.

Kalista Cornelison pitched six innings in the win, giving up three hits, no earned runs and two walks with 11 strikeouts. Bailey Phillips had a strikeout in an inning in the cricle. At the plate, Izzy INgle went 3 for 3 with two runs scored, Crystal Corley was 2 for 3 with a double, Maddie McCrary went 2 for 3 with a triple, three RBIs and two run scored and Alison Kelly recorded a hit.
Winston Co. 12, Lexington 2
Baila Morgan pitched four innings in the win, giving up three hits, an earned run and three walks with a strikeout. Madison Comeens pitched two innings, giving up two hits and three walks with an earned run. Offensively, Garrison went 2 for 2 a double and a run scored, Comeens was 2 for 4 with a double, five RBIs and three runs scored, Marli Stewart had a hit with three runs scored and Olivia Wright recorded a hit with two runs scored.

Cornelison pitched seven innings in the shutout victory, giving up five hits and two walks with two strikeouts. At the plate, Ingle went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, Maddie McCrary was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs, Cornelison drove-in two runs on a hit. Morgan pitched seven innings for Winston Co., giving up six hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts. Comeens went 2 for 4.
