DJ Emerson has been named the new head football coach at Carbon Hill High School.
Emerson spent the past two seasons as the head coach at Curry, where he was 2-18 overall. He replaces Mark Cochran, who was 5-15 in two seasons at Carbon Hill.
In a statement emailed to WJLX, Emerson wrote:
“My family and I are honored to be a part of Carbon Hill High School as I become the new head football coach. I want to thank principal Saige Beaty and board member Todd Vick for their
recommendation to be hired and their trust in me to guide the football program. To Carbon Hill players, faculty, alumni, and stakeholders I can’t wait to get started developing relationships and
serving the school and town of Carbon Hill. I will strive everyday to run a program from toy bowl to high school that will develop young men of great character, hard work, toughness, and
servanthood that they will display for the rest of their lives.
To Curry High School, simply THANK YOU! Principal Eric Woodley, Athletic Director BJ Baker, Board Member Trent Kennedy, coaches, players, faculty, parents, and community members from the bottom of my heart thank you for the opportunity to serve as your head football coach. To all the current and former players, thank you for allowing me to develop life long relationships that I will always cherish.”
