The Bevill State Bears have begun the season with a bang with a perfect 6-0 start after a pair of wins over Enterprise State Monday, 9-7 and 9-8 in Sumiton.
In the Game 1 victory, Jessy Aston pitched six and two-thirds innings, striking out six batters. At the plate, Rachel Whitmer went 2 for 4 with a runs scored, Carlie Burnam hit a grand slam homerun with a run scored, Catherine Hickey had a hit with two RBIs, AK Tyree recorded a hit with a run scored and Isabelle Santos had a one-run triple.
In Game 2, Katelyn Makemson pitched five and two-thirds innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs with two strikeouts. Kyla Edmonson pitched one and one-third innings with two strikeouts. Offensively, Addison Rose went 2 for 3 with a homerun, a triple, a run scored and an RBI, Santana Clark was 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI, Katie Puckett went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, Savannah Neely hit a one-run double with a run scored and Whitmer drove-in the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
