Bevill St splits Saturday’s games with No. 5 Wallace-Hanceville

The Bevill State Bears ended the series with the nationally-ranked, No. 5 Wallace State Lions by splitting Saturday’s home games — winning Game 1, 7-2, and falling in Game 2, 14-1, in Sumiton.

Jessy Aston got the Game 1 win, giving up seven hits, two earned runs and two walks in seven innings. At the plate, Santana Clark went 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, Brynn Repicky was 2 for 3 with an RBI, Carlie Burnham went 2 for 4 with a double, a run scored and an RBI and AK Tyree scored two runs.

Santana Clark pitched three and one-third innings in Game 2, giving up five earned runs and three walks with a strikeout. Offensively, Skylar Black hit a solo homerun, while Clark, Rachel Whitmer and Katie Puckett added a hit each. Sumiton Christian’s Gracie Ashley went 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI for the Lions.
