The Bevill State Bears and the Northwest Shoals Patriots traded a win each in Sumiton on Wednesday, with the Bears taking Game 1, 4-3, and the Patriots winning Game 2, 10-6, for an even season series record of 2-2.
Brynn Repicky’s clutch hitting was key in the Game 1 win, as she went 2 for 2 with a double and a two-run homerun, along with another run scored. Santana Clark pitched five and two-thirds innings, giving up three earned runs and four walks with two strikeouts. Katelyn Makemson pitched the final one and one-third innings, giving up a hit with a strikeout. At the plate, Katie Puckett went 2 for 3 with a solo homerun and Santana Clark hit a triple with a run scored.
Kyla Edmondson pitched three and two-thirds innings in Game 2, giving up five hits, four earned runs and two walks, with two strikeouts. Emily Adkins, Jessy Aston and Katelyn Makemson all shared time in the circle. Offensively, AK Tyree went a perfect 4 for 4 with a triple, a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Brynn Repicky was 2 for 3 with a double and three runs scored, Santana Clark went 2 for 4 with a run scored, and Katie Puckett hit a two-run homerun and drove-in an additional run.
