Jaden Caldwell connected with Preston Reed on a 33-yard halfback touchdown pass, that, coupled with a JP Hollis fumble recovery on the ensuing kickoff, lead the Jasper Vikings to a 20-16 victory over the Cullman Bearcats on Friday night at Ki-Ro Grambrell Stadium.
Spencer Rosenfeld led the Viking offense with 166 multi-purpose yards, throwing for 103 yards while rushing for 63 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Reed caught six passes for 107 yards and a score.
Defensively, Jon Luke Walker recorded seven tackles, Cole Sargent had six tackles and Hollis had four tackles and two fumble recoveries.
After Cullman opened the scoring with a field goal, Jasper took control on 20-yard run in the second quarter to pull ahead, 7-3.
The Bearcats regained command in the third quarter, 9-7, then added another touchdown to hold a 16-7 lead.
Jasper began its comeback in the fourth quarter, first on a one-yard run by Jody Hester, 16-14, and followed with the the Caldwell to Reed touchdown pass to clinch the 20-16 win.
With the victory, Jasper takes command of the overall series, 36-35-3.
The Vikings travel to No. 2 Clay-Chalkville next week in region play.
