Cougars beat the Vikings in region play

The Clay-Chalkville Cougars scored 55 points in the first half and on to a big lead in a hot clock-shortened in the final two quarters in a 68-21 win over the Jasper Vikings on Friday night at Clay.
Treyvon Stewart led the Jasper offense with 150 rushing on six carries with a touchdown. Cole Sargent had a big night for the Viking defense with 11 tackles, two tackles for a loss and a sack.
Kevon Samuel took the opening kickoff 96 yards for the opening score of the game for the Vikings to go up 7-0.
The Cougars scored 55 unanswered points before Jasper ended the half with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Spencer Rosenfeld to Samuel, with Clay-Chalkville ahead 55-14.
The Vikings scored the final touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter on a 59-yard run by Stewart for the 68-21 final.
The Vikings (2-1) are off next week before returning to action on Sept. 17 against Gardendale.
