Jimmie Sue Espy, 83, of Carbon Hill, passed away Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Lakewood Assisted Living.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 14, 2021, at 2 p.m. at McDade Cemetery, with Kilgore-Green Funeral Home directing. Johnny Sims will officiate.
Jimmie Sue was born in Walker County. She was a loving Christian wife, mother and grandmother. Jimmie Sue was a dedicated employee of the Utilities Department of the City of Carbon Hill for more than 40 years. She was a lifetime member of Carbon Hill Church of God. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Neil Atkins and Audie Espy; grandson, Patrick Scott Atkins; parents, James L. Rutledge and Verta Mae Alexander; step-father, Audley Alexander; brother, Harry Von Rutledge; step-sister, Nina Strall; and in-laws, Elbert and Pearl Atkins and Leon and Ruby Espy.
She is survived by her sons, Randy Joe Atkins (Tammy) and Brian Keith Atkins (Sharon); grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Atkins and Garrett Neil Atkins; and a host of cousins and friends.
