JASPER, AL – Bevill State Community College Division of Workforce Solutions is proud to announce a collaboration with The Dannon Project to provide non-credit welding training and certification testing to project participants seeking an in-demand career path. Welding has been identified as a Region 4 Demand Occupation by the Alabama Department of Labor, with Region 4 including the greater Birmingham area.
Beginning February 7, 2022, participants in The Dannon Project may enroll for welding training to include SMAW, MIG, and Flux Core, along with safety and a host of fundamentals to ensure they are in a position to secure employment and succeed in the workforce. Two hundred and twenty-four hours of education and hands-on training will take place over 14 weeks in Bevill State’s Workforce Solutions Rapid Training Center. The state-of-the-art facility opened in October 2019 and was funded through a $1.5 million grant awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission to provide industry-recognized credentials for high-quality, in-demand jobs.
Bevill State Community College Division of Workforce Solutions provides a comprehensive approach to workforce education, training, and customized business and industry solutions from five locations located in three workforce regions. Welding has been part of the college catalog since a 1992 merger that founded Bevill State Community College. As an in-demand workforce skill, the Division of Workforce Solutions includes non-credit welding training for those in need of an alternative to credit-based instruction.

The Dannon Project is a Birmingham non-profit, established with a mission to maximize use of private charitable resources and public funding to support the development of vibrant communities and positive lifestyles and combat the many negative impacts of generational poverty.
