Ryan Cagle defeated Sarah Watkins 222 (62 percent) to 137 (38 percent), or 62 to win the Democratic nomination Tuesday in the called District 5 Alabama State Senate election. Cagle will now face Republican Matt Woods on June 24 in the called general election. Cagle is widely known in the area for being an outspoken organizer in the #justicefortonymitchell movement.
