The Jaspers Vikings’ Mason Bates and the Winston County Yellow Jackets’ Declyn Morgan gave their teams big boosts to open the AHSAA playoffs on Friday night.
Bates helped keep Moody’s high-powered offense in check, intercepting a pass and making several key tackles to send his sophomore campaign and earn Southeast Hospice/WJLX Jasper Player of the Week honors.
Morgan accounted for six touchdowns in Winston County’s 50-14 victory over Cleveland, passing for four touchdowns and adding two scores on the ground to be named Southeast Hospice/WJLX Wal-Win Area Player of the Week.
Both players will receive an award plaque and be interviewed to commemorate their efforts.
