Bevill State Community College (BSCC) is thrilled to announce the receipt of the 3M MAP
(Manufacturing and Academic Partnerships) program grant, a significant investment in the future of
workforce development in Northwest Alabama. This grant will benefit BSCC’s Electrical Systems
Technology program on both the Fayette and Hamilton Campuses, providing crucial support through
equipment funding, instructor training, and scholarships for students.
The announcement event, held on Thursday, November 7, 2024, on the Bevill State Hamilton Campus,
featured a ceremonial check presentation by 3M representatives, equipment demonstrations, and remarks
from local leaders. Attendees included representatives from BSCC, 3M, elected officials, industry
partners, and students.
“The 3M MAP grant is an invaluable step in our commitment to providing high-quality, career-ready
education for our students,” said Dr. Joel Hagood, President of Bevill State Community College. “With
this support, we are able to equip our Electrical Systems Technology program with cutting-edge tools
and training, ensuring that our students are prepared for meaningful careers in advanced manufacturing
and technical fields. This partnership with 3M exemplifies our mission to foster a skilled workforce that
supports the growth and prosperity of our communities.”
The grant aligns with 3M’s mission to strengthen career pathways that lead to family-sustaining wages
and foster community vibrancy. Through its Manufacturing and Academic Partnerships program, 3M
collaborates with academic institutions, local high schools, and technical colleges to enhance training
opportunities, offer scholarships, and support equipment for high-demand fields.
“The 3M MAP program and the Guin plant are pleased to provide Bevill State with this grant. It will
enable the future success of our plant by providing the equipment and resources to develop our next
generation workforce,” commented Trevor Bragwell, 3M Guin Plant Director.
This collaboration between Bevill State and 3M underscores the importance of education and workforce
development in meeting the needs of both students and the local economy. Through this partnership,
students in the Electrical Systems Technology program will gain access to state-of-the-art equipment,
hands-on learning opportunities, and the skills needed to thrive in technical careers.
