Unlike the lopsided first game that saw the No. 22 Northeast Mississippi Tigers dominate Bevill State, Thursday night’s rematch saw the Bears perform well in a 70-57 loss at Clem Gymnasium.
Jervae Peters led Bevill State with 14 points to earn Pinnacle Bank/WJLX 101.5 FM Player of the Game honors, while Carterius Evans scored 12 points with a block. Cornelius Grant had nine points, two steals and a block.
The two teams battled back and forth throughout the first period, with Bevill State building a six point lead the midway point before Northeast Mississippi closed on a run to take a 32-27 advantage into halftime.
The Tigers controlled most of the second half to secure the 70-57 win.
Bevill State travels to Chattahoochee Valley on Monday.
