Alanis Morissette officially releases song performed at tribute concert for Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington

Alanis Morissette has officially released her song “Rest,” which she first debuted live during the October 2017 tribute concert to Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington.

The “You Oughta Know” singer wanted to share “Rest” in honor of today, May 20, being Mental Health Action Day. May is also Mental Health Awareness Month.

“[‘Rest’ was] written specifically about those of us who struggle with depression and anxiety, isolation, suicidal ideation and the profound despair that mental illness can plunge us into,” Morissette says. She also encourages listeners to visit to learn more about “how you can help support yourself and others today and every day.”

Bennington died by suicide in July 2017.
